My subject matter for the first and third image is myself in a variation of disguises. In the first one, I chose to disguise myself by putting my hood on, and setting up the studio lights on either side of me. Thus, an effect was created that brightened the center of my face where my face protrudes out, (nose, chin, ect.) and has complete darkness on the depths of my face. In the third, the shutter speed was slowed, and I was in the middle of motion when the photo was taken, causing a blurred effect. The photos were both taken from about three feet away, on a tripod that was stabilized and set up to be able to zoom in and take the perfect shot. The setting of my photos are in the classroom with a black backdrop, creating an eerie feel with all of the darkness and the mysterious man in the hood.
I chose to modify my photo by cutting my face in half and merging it on the center line with a studio portrait of my favorite hockey player, Steven Stamkos. I could not make our faces align perfectly with features, so i aligned our eyes to show the drastic differences between our facial features and construction. I believe that my edit to the photo shows my passion toward the game of hockey, my support of Stamkos, and my desire to be like him and my admiration of him. Im sending the message of an inspiration of somebody striving to be like somebody else due to their success.
