In the picture with slow shutter speed, the effect shows the ball being blurred, but the person is frozen in motion. To compose the shot, we slowed the speed and set the tripod up to face the ball, and we had him kick the ball and move toward it.
For the fast speed, we moved the shutter speed up and had him kick the ball into the air, and attempt to keep it up. We used the shutter speed feature to capture the ball and leg in a frozen pose.
When we used the motion pictures, we were able to capture the facial expression of Connor as he was when the picture was taken. The picture is of him juggling the red ball, and his look of concentration and effort was captured perfectly.
